OD or Ovulatory Dysfunction in women is condition where menstrual periods get irregular or happen just nine times or less than nine times in a year. Fertomid tablets (Generic Clomid) and OD

Fertomid tablets are used for treating OD in women aspiring or planning to get pregnant. Deterrents in the way of achieving pregnancy have to be nullified or treated before starting the therapy with Clomiphene Citrate. The patients succeeding with the Generic Clomid tablets mostly include those having polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), Amenorrhoea – galactorrhoea syndrome, psychogenic amenorrhoea, post-oral-contraceptive amenorrhoea and certain cases of secondary amenorrhoea of undetermined aetiology. As a supplement to Clomid therapy controlled coitus in ovulation is also critical. Fertomid is also used to treat male infertility as it increases spermatogenesis (in both oligospermia and asthenospermia).

The drug is found effective even in the treatment of secondary male hypogonadism (a condition where the body is unable to produce enough testosterone required for reproduction).  With male athletes and body builders who use anabolic steroids at the end of cycle to decrease the physical effects caused by estrogen levels, Clomiphene tablet is used offlabel.  The drug binds to the estrogen receptors and prevents the hormone from binding and thereby getting affected. Clomiphene restores the body’s natural ability to produce testosterones.

At Generic Wellness we have Fertomid tablets manufactured by Cipla Ltd in the strengths of 25mg and 50mg. Clomiphene tablets are manufactured by Sunrise Remedies Pvt. Ltd in the strength of 100mg. The active ingredient in Fertomid and Clofi tablets is Clomiphene Citrate.

Generic Clomid (Fertomid tablets) is used in treating female infertility by artificially stimulating ovulation (the release of egg/s) when woman’s ovaries can produce a follicle but hormonal stimulation is deficient. The drug stimulates the release of hormones necessary for ovulation to occur. This in turn facilitates pregnancy in otherwise infertile female.

Clomiphene and Bodybuilding

As part of the Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) Clomiphene Citrate or Generic Clomid tablets are given to bodybuilders after completion of their steroid cycle. Generic Clomid is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). After a prolonged steroid cycle in bodybuilders their body has the tendency to drastically slow down its natural testosterone production. In some cases the natural production of testosterone comes to nil and the volume of steroids taken in the blood is slowly diminishing.

Generic Clomid stimulates the Hypothalamus which in turn stimulates anterior pituitary gland to release ganadotrophic hormones. These are follicle stimulating hormones (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH). Both stimulate the testes to produce more testosterone production and blood levels to rise partly to compensate for the diminishing levels of exogenous steroids. This greatly helps in minimizing the post cycle loss of testosterone production.

Method of dosage of Generic Clomid - Clomiphene

To begin with the dose of Generic Clomid tablets is 50mg daily (1 tablet) for 5 days starting within the first five days of spontaneous or induced menstrual bleeding. The dose is gradually increased in case of patients who do not ovulate in response to the drug cycle of 50mg each. Shortened duration of treatment is recommended in patients displaying unusual sensitivity to pituitary gonadotropin. The subject is examined properly to exclude pregnancy, ovarian enlargement or ovarian cyst formation between each treatment cycle.

Take the drug precisely as instructed by your doctor. Take it with a glass of water during 5 day cycle. Contact your doctor in case you miss a dose of Clomiphene Citrate tablets.

Contraindications of of Generic Clomid - Clomiphene

The drug is contraindicated in the following cases:

• Hypersensitivity to Clomiphene or any of its inactive ingredient
• Patients with liver disease or history of liver dysfunction
• Patients with hormone dependent tumours or with abnormal uterine bleeding
• Pregnant patients
• Patients with ovarian cyst as the cyst is likely to enlarge due to drug effect (except in polycystic ovary).

Side effects of of Generic Clomid - Clomiphene

The common side effects of Clomiphene tablets are:

• Ovarian enlargement
• Vasomotor flushes
• Abdominal-pelvic discomfort
• Bloating, pain or soreness
• Vomiting
• Nausea
• Breast discomfort
• Visual symptoms
• Headache
• Inter-menstrual spotting

You should immediately stop the drug and seek emergency medical help in case you encounter any allergic reaction including difficulty in breathing, chocked throat, swelling of lips, tongue and face or have hives.

In certain cases you come across Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Syndrome (OHSS) the symptoms of which are swelling of limbs, stomach pain and swelling, shortness of breath, weight gain and nausea or vomiting.

Report to your doctor if you experience

• Ovarian enlargement
• Flushing
• Nausea with vomiting and diarrhoea
• Breast tenderness or discomfort
• Blurred vision or visual disturbances
• Headache
• Abnormal uterine bleeding

The drug may increase the chances of multiple births that may pose additional risk for both mother and for the foetuses.
